why might my computer not be able to find bootable device during start up. I have ran the normal test, and it saying everything is fine

Get into BIOS on start up and check if there's a HDD being detected in BIOS > Standard CMOS features > SATA 1 setting (or possibly SATA 2 etc depending on which sata port is being used by the HDD).
If there's no HDD shown at all, then either the HDD has failed or it has become disconnected from the motherboard.
If there is a HDD shown then it may be a corrupted boot partition on the HDD that is the problem. What OS is installed in the PC i.e. Win7, Win8.1, Win10, Linux etc?
