Very slow writing speed

Since the SSD upgrade, the writing speeds on my iMac are extremely slow. Is this due to a faulty Hard drive?

If you had a Fusion Drive system (HDD & SSD fused into being seen as one drive but are still two physical drives)

And you replaced either of the drives then the system can run dog slow as the surviving drive of the Fusion set is trying to access its mate drive which is now gone.

The Drives configuration and its setup would need to be understood to fix this.

@felixfleck - Well yes indeed this is a Fusion Drived system and the Blade SSD 28GB is slowing down your replacement SATA SSD (500GB) for the HDD it once had. You'll need to remove it following this guide iMac Intel 21.5" Retina 4K Display (2017) Blade SSD Replacement
