Kitchenaid Dishwasher making a buzzing noise

Hello

I have a Kitchenaid Dishwasher Model KDTM404KPS0

Lately our dishwasher has started making a buzzing noise that I hope is clear in the video I have added. I can't tell when in the cycle it begins but I think maybe while the water is being pumped but not exactly sure. I was hoping that the sound mike be an obvious issue and some one might recogmnize it and advize me on my options. Basically it sounds to be an electrical buz mor than a hum but I hope you hear it and know the sound.

Thank you

Tony

Hi @tonyp10948

Here's the tech sheet for the dishwasher.

Use it to either view the error history code or to run the service test cycle to find out what error code is being displayed to know what's wrong.

The error codes and their meanings are shown in the sheet.

If you find the problem and it's a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted part in the list and note the manufacturer's part number listed for it. Search online for the manufacturer's part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.

Search on YouTube for (insert wanted part number) replacement and sometimes if you're lucky, there might be videos showing how to remove/replace the part.

Hi Jayeff

I followed the instructions to the tech sheet and I am a bit confused. All the lights did light up and then when I pushed button 2 and closed the door nothing happened. I was expecting to see Lights flashin or some other indication. also If I can get an error sequence how do I interpret it to understan for example F1E1

What happens if you enter and start diagnostic tests and then press the Start/Resume key, does it advance in the tests?

Here's the owner manual for the model series. Go to p.7 to see how to interpret the LEDs for the error code if there's no display window in your particular model

@jayeff Thank you for helping. I start the diagnostic test ans then I pressed the Start/Resume button and all that did was start a dishwashing cycke with no other evidence that anything was happening.

@tonyp10948

Is there more water than normal standing in the bottom of the dishwasher when the dishwasher is off?

If there is it may be the drain pump trying to drain it out before the cycle can commence.

If it's the usual small amount then check if the fill valve is operating, allowing water to enter the machine when the cycle begins

The wiring diagram on p.2 of the tech sheet shows the connections between all the components and the control board so you can check if the correct voltage is getting to the component i.e. fill valve or drain pump and if it is and it's not working you could check if it is OK or not.

It's unusual that the diagnostics don't give an error code so hopefully it's not a control board problem

@jayeff Thank yo u again for sticking with me.

It is odd but the machine works as normal except for that noise. I seems to be washing as good as it always had and in the same time frame. I checked after the last cycle and there is no water visible at the end of a wash. It is apparent that there was water in there throught out the cycle but would appear that it all drained as it should. As for the the amount during a cycle I cant be certain that it is the correct amount but it is definitely filling . we can hear the water entering through the cycle. It seems the only anomaly is the noise that I recorded in my first post.

thank you agin for keeping t rack of this with me

Tony
