I want to open my Vizio Soundbar SV510X-0806

I want to gain access to the volume-controlled mutable audio from my soundbar so I can pass it through a graphic equalizer and separate amplifier to drive speakers for hearing impaired person (me). Cannot figure out how to non-destructively gain access to the insides.

I am retired EE and electronics experimenter, but I just can't figure out how to open the external case. (Edit: correct spelling)

Rather than opening the soundbar, you might also achieve much of your desired intent via the downloadable Vizio Mobile App that allows your soundbar to:

  • Adjust the treble & bass
  • Set the "Clear Dialog" feature to High, which will enhance the vocal frequencies
  • There's a "Dual-Mode" setting option that will mirror the soundbar output to the surround speaker output (instead of outputting surround sound content in the surround speakers), so that you can add the vocal dialog to the surround speakers for even more ability to hear dialog

I don't know if this will solve my need but I must say "Thank You, Thank You" for letting me know that the Smart Phone application will enable me to put the normal audio output also on the surround speakers. So far, they only seem to activate when I am receiving Dolby 5.1 or similar stream from movies, etc. Basically, I only watch news and material that has conventional two channel stereo audio, so the surround speakers have been idle since I bought and installed the sound bar.
