Repair and disassembly information for Google's Pixel 7 smartphone, released in October 2022. Identified by model number GVU6C and GQML3.

Screen detached from plastic safety frame

The battery was swollen and pushed the screen out, and when opening the phone I didn’t realise that instead of separating the screen with its frame from the chassis I was actually separating the screen from the safety frame.

The photo above should make it clearer.

Now I imagine the obvious answer would be to get a replacement screen but tbh having already spent 80€ for the battery kit I don’t think it’s worth it (also the screen is fine)

Any chance I can reassemble the screen and frame? What glue could work?

I ended up carefully cleaning frame and screen with isopropyl alcohol, then used a thin layer of T8000, let it dry a few hours before proceeding with reassembling the screen to the device, and finally leaving the phone under a stack of books for 24 hours.

I guess I'll have to report back in some time to see if it holds, but for now the result was quite good. It's most likely not waterproof anymore but I mean, at least it won't blow up anymore.
