No power after Shell swap

Hello there,

So I had this switch lite that was working fine but the shell was grey and broken in many places. I decided to get a ExtremeRate Clear shell and do a Shell swap, and also add hall effect analogs since I am tearing the whole thing down..

I have experience with these job I have swapped out the LCD on my OG switch and I have been doing repairs for more than 10 years now.

After the reassembling everything it is not turning on. I tried holding power button for 15 second, with and without the volume buttons and nothing happens

When I connect the charger the console does not show anything on screen, but the console get warm, not hot, just warm like when you charge a device.

I did everything with extreme care, to remove the Screen I put a glass cleaning cloth on the hot bed of my 3D printer and I heated it up to 80ºC for a couple of minutes.

I carefully removed the Screen minding the ribbon cables. I put everything together going back on the LCD swap guide here on iFixit.

I tried to dissasemble the console again and assemble it from scratch to see if everything was connected correctly.

First thing I did with the console open, was to disconnect the battery to avoid shorting anything out.

Could it be the ribbon that connects the mother board to the daughter board on the left side of the console? Or did I murder the LCD?

What else can I try?

Hi!

Hmm, at this moment it's for the best to test the part and see where it goes wrong.

It could be the LCD that is broken, so that it won't display anything on the screen.

Could also be the motherboard causing this issue.

I would first replace the simple things first and see what is causing it. So in your case, I would replace the LCD and see if it works or not. If not, return it and get a refund.

It's a good sign that it gets warm when charging it, this indicates that the LCD could be faulty..

Perhaps this will solve it.. For now it's hard to say...

I thought of the LCD too but wouldn't the backlight or the touch screen work?

Depends on what is broken inside the LCD. Usually the touchscreen does work. So it's hard to say atm :(. For now the only thing is to test separate parts... Sorry.

So I got the new LCD and Installed it with the utmost respect and care and it didn't work. No power, I changd the Power + volume buttons and the ribbon that connects the dauther board to the main board and nothing I am gettin frustrated.

Ah, then it does looks like it's motherboard related at this moment. Can you share some pictures with us regarding the motherboard and daughterboard? Thanks!
