Why is my car Cranking not starting?

Your car needs three things to run: air, fuel and spark. Verify all of the air intake parts are secure. Pull a spark plug, plug it back into the spark plug wire and hold it against metal. Crank the engine and verify that it sparks. Remove a fuel injector, leaving it connected to the fuel line (if possible, some cars have fuel rails that won't allow this), place it in a glass jar. Again, crank the engine and verify that fuel is coming out. You can also unhook the air cleaner and spray starting fluid into the air intake while cranking the engine; that will also indicate a fuel problem if the engine catches when you do that.
