Playstaion 1 AV Multiout not sending signal to TV?

I recently got a PS1 (Model scph-5501) from eBay with the issue of not sending an output signal to the TV.

This console does not send a signal at all. Not even a blue/black screen. The TV does not seem to recognize that anything is plugged in. I don't think it's a cable or TV issue because I tested them with another PlayStation 1 (Model SCPH-7501) and it displays fine.

Looking at the AV port on SCPH-5501, I cannot see the gold pins because they seem to be further recessed on this model than on the other. It was also difficult to plug in the AV cable, it took a noticeable amount of force for it to be properly seated, and even then It still didn't work. Any tips?

Hi!

Well so far it does sound like the AV port need to be replaced!

Be aware that you do need to solder it out and solder a new one in. If you have soldering experience, then it's worth a try!

Please note that the part is not for sale. So you need a motherboard with another defect to get the AV port from.

Do you mind sharing some pictures with us? Then we can check as well!

Thanks!

Thanks! The pins look fine. Did you already tried another AV cable? Would try this first. If this fails, you can try to clean the port with isopropyl alcohol and see if that helps! If this fails, then you should replace the port. If it's still not working after this, it could be that the GPU died...

@dan0 gonna try replacing the cable, isopropyl didn't seem to do anything. Hopefully it isn't a gpu issue or a AV port issue, but if it is it'll be a great learning opportunity lmao.

I really appreciate you responding.

Me too! Hopefully it’s something simple like that. That is true! It will be very educational!

My pleasure! Take care and please let us know if it was the cable or not!
