Washing machine motor controll board died, worth parting?

my clothes washer died and I've narrowed it down to a bad main board, or a bad motor control board. As much as I'd love to try fix it, parts for this old of a machine are expensive...

Would it be worth parting it out, and selling the parts that are still good on ebay to try undercut some of the crazy prices I found when looking for replacement parts myself? (a new OEM motor control board is around $300, a new scratch and dent washer isn't much more expensive, and my wife is sick of running to the laundrymat.

I'm planning to pull all electronics and wires, and I'd guess it's not worth trying to sell the back/shell/big pieces due to shipping.

I'll probably try to do it despite feedback here. I'm mostly curious if anyone has done something similar successfully.

Hi @mydad58486

Is there still an indication by the washer that power is connected to the machine i.e. lights etc. "Washer died" doesn't give much to go on.

Here's the tech sheet for the washer. Go to TEST #1: CCU Power Check on p.13 to check if the CCU is OK or not.

If it passes the test, run the diagnostic tests as seen on p.4 to see what error codes might show up.

The error codes, their meaning and possible causes are shown on p.8.

If you find the problem and it is due to a faulty part that needs replacing, here's a parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted part in the list and note the part number that is shown for it. Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

I didn't go into much detail because I've given up on it at this point. I had found the troubleshooting manual (would it be useful to scan and upload that somewhere?), the first error code indicated a bad drain pump, purchased one and got a new error that indicated the motor control board. I did some research and found someone that said that could be that something shorted on the MCB. I found the short, and a friend did some soldering to try fix that. After that the washer threw a new error, and since it's been about a week an a half of troubleshooting and waiting for parts, my wife and I decided to just get a new washer.

The main intent of my query was to determine if there was enough demand for used OEM parts to be worth taking it apart to hopefully help others fix their machines.

We picked up the new washer yesterday, so I'm disassembling the old one for fun/parts/the ease of getting it through a narrow stairwell in pieces to recycle/throw away any bits I'm not going to try sell.

@mydad58486

You could find the part numbers for all the parts you want to try and sell and search online just to get an idea of what they're worth or at least what sellers are asking for them.

@jayeff I'll do that. Thanks.
