Stuck on Apple logo after usb c port replacement.

So I just got done replacing the usb c port on my iPad and now when I boot it it’s stuck on the iPad apple logo. I’m confused because it seems like when I put in the old damaged one back the iPad boots on normally. But of course I can’t use the old one because it doesn’t charge anymore. So why is this happening? Is it because it’s new hardware? Not sure what to do at this point.
