usb port not working

Is it all the USB ports or only one USB port?

Try connecting a USB mouse or a mobile phone to the USB port and check if either indicates that power is being supplied by the USB port i.e. mouse laser light will turn on or mobile phone will start to charge.

If they don't, then go to Device Manager - Universal Serial Bus controllers - right click on a USB Root Hub entry - Properties - Power Management and check if the option that states "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" is not checked - OK.

Do this for all the USB Root Hub entries in the list.

When complete, close all open windows and then restart the laptop in the normal manner and check if the USB ports now work OK.

To get to Device Manager in Win10/Win11, press the Win key + x key (both together) and click on the Device manager link in the menu box that opens.
