Not dispensing water or ice

Module GFE28GYNIFS

Not dispensing water or ice.

  • water supply line is good (There is no water in the plastic tubing going into the top of the fridge.)
  • Replaced water filter
  • Turned fridge off then on.

Still no good. Any suggestions?

I’m still baffled. I was hoping that someone out there had the same problem and could provide me an answer.

Hi @petewalter97831

Can't find a free download online of the mini manual for the model (GE p/n 31-1000507) which would help to find the problem. It has the diagnostic test procedures and the wiring diagram for the refrigerator.

However, here's an article that details where it may be found in the refrigerator and if it is not there how you can get a copy.

If you find the problem and it's a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted part in the list and note the part number that is shown with it. Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

If you search on YouTube for (insert wanted part number) replacement, sometimes if you're lucky, you'll find videos showing how to remove/replace the part.

reuired.

Not sure but there may be 3 valves inthe model. One each for the water dispenser and ice maker and one main valve that supplies water to both of the others i.e. if there are 3 valves then the main + one other (either water or ice maker) would have to operate for water to flow. If only two valves are there then obviously only the one has to operate.

They're located in the back of the refrigerator down near the compressor motor.

Did you manage to find or obtain the mini manual at all?

Is the main water supply connected to the valve, and the valve have a power plugin? I can’t locate it.

@petewalter97831

The main supply valve (example only to show what it looks like) is at the back underneath the compartments (in with the compressor, condenser etc) and it feeds up to a two valve module, one valve for the ice maker and one for the water dispenser. It is located behind the ice and water dispenser housing.

To get water to either the the ice maker or the water dispenser, two valves need to be operated i.e. the supply valve + either the ice maker valve or the dispenser valve (depending on what's required at the time)

The valves would receive power from the control board (or dispenser board perhaps) so having the mini manual would help as it has the wiring diagram.

If water is not flowing through the supply valve when required, either it is faulty or it's not getting power to operate
