Pixel 7a screen not working after screen replacement

Hi everyone,

I've broken my Pixel 7a display and ordered a replacement screen from ifixit. After following the replacement guide, the screen stays black. I know that the device turns on since it vibrates when long pressing the power button. Even after force rebooting via power + volume up the display still stays black.

Now, I'm not sure if I have done something wrong during repair or if the replacement part is defect. I did use a heat gun, but damaged the original display during disassembly further, so while the original screen now also stays black I don't think I can use that to narrow down where the issue is.

Is there anything else I can do to diagnose the issue? Or is the replacement screen simply broken?

Can you post a quality pic of the connector on the board without the cable attached?

@nige56 I've added some pictures of the connector. Thanks for your response

I have the same issue. Did you find any solution or got a refund?

@erxlzq I sent the screen in and they said the screen was "mechanically damaged – most likely caused during removal from the plastic tray". No refund unfortunately.

Disconnect the reconnect the screen connector ensuring it is seated correctly. Connect the charger to the phone and see if the screen shows an image. If not it's either a faulty screen or damage on the board around the connector depending on how it's been disconnected.

Hi, I have the same case.

Strange is that I can enter booloader menu, and after I followed and guides online, finally I decided to try an OTA sideload, maybe something got wrong ? SO I did it, but still no luck.

So, the screen WORKS, until after logo. Then if tries to start but fails, and fades after 0.5s or so.

Anyone can help me?
