The 8th generation (E110) of Toyota's best-selling compact car.

Clutch or transmission problem?

I have a 1995 Toyota Corolla stick shift. I don’t know much about stick shifts and I’ve only had this car for about a month and a half maybe two months when I bought it it had a slight transmission leak or so I think or some kind of leak it was leaking some sort of fluid so I have been putting power steering and transmission fluid in it regularly. It won’t take any brake fluid anymore. It seems to be full but transmission fluid. It seems to accept all the time yesterday it stopped going forward and backwards.

@tittymontana tell us more about this "it stopped going forward and backwards" A clutch problem would usually manifest itself by no longer getting it into gear when your push the clutch (or the gears grinding when you try to engage them). A filed clutch usually cause a slipping when you try to move the vehicle, that means the RPM go up but the vehicle barely moves. This could actually be an issue with the shifter linkage. Can you still "feel " getting into the gears when your try to shift (even when it is parked, not running etc.) or is the shifter really loose? From what you are describing, the chances of this being a true transmission issue is very unlikely.

Hi @tittymontana

Where are you filling the brake fluid? Is it in the clutch master cylinder?

If so check if it is leaking from the clutch slave cylinder.

Here's a video that may help.
