I must not be understanding. . .

How is it that this is supposed to be a "guide" for the Bosch 7.0 Amp Jigsaw Professional JS470E? The parts diagram is...barely visible, and I'm failing to see anything that resembles and guide or tutorial about the tool. Am I missing something?

Hi @ryanlanaga42607

It is still useful if you need to disassemble the jigsaw as it has the parts diagram which shows where the parts go with each other and the part numbers if you need to find replacement parts.

If you click on the parts diagram it will enlarge and then if you click on Show parts list (57) there is a list of the parts and their part number. If you select a part it will show you where it is located in the parts diagram. If you then search online for Bosch (insert wanted part number), hopefully there will be results for suppliers of the wanted part e.g. Bosch 2604011419 (Bosch armature).

Ryan, iFixit relies heavily on its users to help contribute knowledge. As they say here, nobody knows how to fix everything, but everyone knows how to fix something. This is how all device pages start out; with very little content, then over time users and/or iFixit staff will add guides, teardowns and troubleshooting pages to the device page, filling it out with whatever collective knowledge we have about the device.

You can contribute just as easily as anyone else here. Assuming you figure out how to do whatever repair you're wanting to on your jigsaw, you can take pictures as you work and once you're done those can form the basis of your own guide to that repair. Once that's done, anyone else on earth who has the same issue on the same device can benefit from what you learned in the process. That's exactly how I got start here on iFixit, by having to fix a couple of iPhone X phones owned by my grandchildren who managed to break them in a continuous cycle. I had to learn how to replace just about everything, and whenever I did, I made a guide for that repair. As a result, the iPhone X device page is very complete with guides to virtually every possible repair that can be done on it.

And you certainly don't have to do it all alone; that's what this entire community is all about. Tell us what you're trying to do, and many people who have experience with the sort of repairs you are attempting can add directions and ideas for you to try. We may ask specific questions, make suggestions, or request pictures; whatever is needed to help figure out your issue.

I've also found that there are a lot of YouTube videos on a wide variety of repairs, so it will also be worth your time to search on there for either specific information on your jigsaw, or possibly more general information that applies to many saws.

Hopefully this answers your questions. Of course you can feel free to start another question if you want help with a particular problem and we'll see what we can do to help.
