Not having any video output

I am currently in the process of rebuilding two computers after doing a teardown and refurbishment, on both systems so far I am getting no video output no matter which output I try, (HDMI, VGA, DVI Display port) one motherboard being a asus f2abs-m and the other also being a Asus board, both boards are still out of the case, I have all the necessary hardware installed, (Sata drive, RAM, CPU, etc) I am now at the stage where I am trying to boot the computer and I am not getting any video output, no matter which output I try, the monitor acts like it's gonna connect for a about 5 seconds and then nothing, I am having the same problem with both boards, I am fairly proficient at building systems and I am sure it's something really simple that I am over looking, any help would be appreciated

Hi!

Can you share the CPU models with us? Which CPU's did you used? Do you have a GPU installed, if yes can you share the model with us? Or are you trying to use the integrated graphics? Regarding the motherboard, could it be the: ASUS F2A85-M LE instead the F2ABS?

I can do that, the one is the Asus F2A85-M and the other is the AsRock B450M/AC

RAM is a very common failure point in refurbished builds.

Try:

One stick at a time.

Different slots.

Known working RAM if available.

That's one of the first things that I tried, I know it's gonna be something simple I am overlooking, especially becaus it's happening on two different motherboards at the same time, I think the only thing I haven't mentioned was neither motherboard is currently in its case, but that shouldn't matter, well at least it didn't years ago lol, on the new motherboard I have tried both the on-board graphics card as well as my Nvidia RTX 2070, which was in there before

Hi @nicholaskeck

No video ,may be due to the PC not passing POST (power on self test) when starting. If there are any beeps heard the code will tell you what the problem is.

  • For the Asus motherboard try connecting a system speaker to the speaker header pins on the System Panel connector (20-8 pin panel) - see p.1-31 (43 of 86 pdf) of the user manual and check if there are any beep error codes heard.
  • For the ASRock motherboard connect it to the Power LED and Speaker Header (SPK_PLED1) header pins - see Item #14 on p.7 (13 of 87 pdf) for location of connector and p.30 on (36 of 87pdf) for the actual pins in the user manual Here's a link for the ASRock beep codes

Do you plug cable into the motherboard? If yes you should plug it into GPU.
