Will MacBook Pro turn on if I removed the Battery
2 weeks ago Instead of leaving my MacBook in sleep mode like I normally do with the charger connected, I did a complete shutdown afterwards removing the charger and cable to charge my phone. The following morning I tried to power the laptop up and it was completely dead nothing at all, no sound, no shift key light, no dead battery charge screen.
I tried all the key functions Apple suggests to get it up and running but still nothing. There has never been any water damage to it or anything.
Battery replacement is recommended when I would click on the percentage but it’s never been a big deal because I was able to to still get a good 3 or more hours of run time on it as long as I did not have videos constantly playing. Yes, sometimes the fans would speed up and get real loud like a tiny turbine engine depending on what website I was surfing getting very warm to the left hand side of the track pad but once you click out of the site the fans would slow down.
I use the laptop every day for 6 years with no problems and it just seems so stupid to me that it would die out of nowhere after a shutdown to prevent something like this to happen.
Apparently 2018 models are considered vintage laptops to Apple therefore parts are difficult to come by meaning that no matter what, I will be told the main board is fried therefore, I must purchase a new laptop and that’s something I can’t afford to do right now.
So here’s my question that I hope someone can answer for me, if I purchase a P5 screwdriver and a T5 screwdriver, open up my laptop and clean out whatever 6 year old dust there is inside and carefully disconnect the battery by following iFixit instructions, reconnect the USB-C charger to one of the 4 USB-C ports and try to fire it up would it turn on if there was nothing wrong with the logic board and stay on to get my data off off of it?
I don’t want to spend money on replacing a battery only to find out that it’s not going to turn on. I’ve look all over the internet for something on running a MacBook 2018 and up without a battery and I can’t find anything at all so whoever definitely knows the answer please let me know
Thanks
