ET-2850 firmware failure blocks USB access to printer from PC
3 days ago I updated the firmware on my ET-2850. The screen is now showing 'Updating, do not turn the power off'. It has been in this state for 3 days. In this state the USB port on the printer is turned off so all the 'help to use the firmware updater' etc is nonsense because the software cannot find the printer (connect USB error etc.) The UK Epson phone line is permanently 'temporarily unavailable' (ie switched off) and my emails are unanswered. I am reluctant to power down for fear of having the firmware in a corrupted state. Can anybody reassure me that I can power down and recover? I really need a printer.

Frustrated, I unplugged the printer and it seemed to work ok, but then I got a wi-fi failed alert. The printer has never worked well with wi-fi so I have always run it on USB. Thanks for the answer I will try the Recovery Tool to see if solves the wi-fi problem.
