The Kenmore 110 Series is an easy to use home Washing machine created by Kenmore.

Wash dial does not move!

When setting dial to NORMAL...the wash cycle agitates/drains but does NOT spin. The Dial does not move from where I placed it.

Hi @timgrose

What is the full model number of the washer?

Hi @timgrose

Does the washer spin if you manually rotate the cycle timer to either the drain/spin or rinse/spin positions?

The cycle timer is incorporated in the electronic control board so hopefully that's not the problem

Here's the tech sheet for the washer that may help to find out what's happening.

Go to p.2 to view the Activating the service diagnostic test modes procedure and check if any error codes are being shown by the status lights when the diagnostic tests are being run. If there are any errors, see the Fault/Error Code Display Method chart on p.3 for how to interpret the lights to know what the error code is.

The error codes, their meaning and possible causes are shown on p.6→p.7.

If you find the problem and it's a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted part in the list and note the part number that is shown with it. Search online for the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.

If you search on YouTube for (insert wanted part number) replacement, sometimes if you're lucky you'll find videos that show how to remove/replace the part.

When I rotated the cycle timer to Drain/Spin...the washer goes into wash mode and agitates and then drains as if in wash cycle and then nothing just like in wash cycle...and AGAIN the dial did NOT move!

@timgrose

Did running the diagnostic tests show anything?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Sorry Jeff, this machine is an elderly neighbor that I'm trying to help and only had a moment to do that turning the dial as previously noted. I also want to note that regardless where I rotate the dial (i.e. Normal, Casual, Rinse/Spin or Drain/Spin) the washer goes to "Sensing" and fills (at Warm setting and water is warm). Then, Wash cycle is green lit and agitates normally and when done drains and nothing from there. I'm extremely savvy with troubleshooting mechanical things of EVERY nature and have maintained my own appliances, cars, boats, planes and nitro Funny Cars. Can this problem be anything other than a "Cycle Timer"/Control Board?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

First I want to Thank You for your time and attention! If this problem can be something other than the Cycle Timer/Control Board...please let me know and I will follow instructions for doing "Diagnostic Test"...when I can find time :)

@timgrose

It might also be a shifter problem

This changes the action from agitate to spin.

If it were a shifter problem then the diagnostic should give an F7 E5 shifter fault error code. (Fill/Sensing, Rinse, Spin & Done lights followed after a 1 second pause by Rinse and Done lights)

If it does then see p.7 in the tech sheet what checks to perform.
