Playstation 3 60gb backwards compatible turns off (no YLOD)
Well, I'll be brief because I think this is already a pretty hackneyed topic. I have a 60GB backwards compatible Playstation 3 Fat that shuts off automatically with certain games (Gran Turismo 6, Dead Space 3...). I've played every game I own on this console without a problem back in the day. Years ago, I did the popsicle stick mod on the console and replaced the thermal paste using Arctic Silver 5. My question is if there's a specific problem with these games due to a firmware update or a game update, or something else causing the error, or can I assume it's time for maintenance, opening it up to clean it and replace the thermal paste again? I have a syringe of artic silver 5 I have used years ago, it still remains enough for one maintenance, can I still use this or should I buy a new syringe? Best regards, and thanks for your help.

Hi! The ps3 fan does not get noisi. The first time I got this problem was running gran turismo 6. The console shuts down after a few minutes, even if I am not racing, it shuts down navigating the game menus. I deleted all game data and reinstalled the game and all the updates, but that did not solve the issue.
I searched info about this and found out that more people have the same problem with GT6, even there was a list of games that "shuts down" the console. I tryed some games of the list, like dead space 3 and it shuts down my console indeed in the saved game data loading screen, I can not even have the chance of control the main character.
Other game of the list is uncharted 3, but this game works fine for me, with no shut down issues, at least in the parts of the game I have tested.

Okay, I would first replace the HDD for a new one with new software and see how that goes. If that failed, then replace the PSU and see how that goes. It's better to troubleshoot right away with some easy/inexpensive parts.

So, you do not think this is an overheating issue? About the psu, maybe it has lost power along the years and cannot supply enough power in the most demanding moments and this is the reason of the shut down problems?

Yes that is possible.
I would do the following:
1: replace thermalpaste and remove all the dust. Test if it is working or is getting better. If not, go to 2.
2: replace the power supply and see if that fixed it, if not go to 3.
3: replace the HDD for a known working or new one and install software as new, see if that solved it or not.
