Options for heatset inserts

Hi everyone,

I've recently started using heat-set inserts in some of my 3D print designs, but I've run into a small issue — the only soldering iron I own is the iFixit one, and unfortunately, it doesn’t currently offer a tip designed for heat-set inserts.

Has anyone had any success using any of the four standard tips for this purpose? Or is a dedicated soldering iron with a compatible insert tip the only real option?

Would love to hear your experiences or any creative workarounds you've found!

I forward your question to the iFixit product team.

@danj Thanks, Dan.

I don't have a lot of experience with iFixit product team so fingers crossed we see something positive. The proprietary design for the tips is great to protect their product, but I can't help but feel like it goes against the ethos of iFixit.

@benbrooks23043 - there is another company that uses the same cartridges as others have used them from other posts.

Not sure on this forums view on bumps but I would love to have some feedback from anyone else about the issue.

Hi all, just bumping again to see if anyone has had success and what tips they were using. I'm thinking the bevel 1.5 or cone would be best but I'm yet to try.
