15.6” FHD 144Hz laptop with Intel i5-13450HX, RTX 3050 6GB, 8GB DDR5, 512GB SSD, Windows 11, 60Wh battery, and 170W adapter.

How do I clean the fans?

My LOQ 15IRX9 fans haven't been cleaned since it was bought, and I can see some dust building up on its bottom cover. I want to know how I can clean the fans on the inside by myself. How do I do it properly?

Hi @kialzi

Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop.

Go to p.42 in the manual (48 of 68 pdf) to view the procedure to remove/replace the thermal module.

Once it's removed this will allow you gently clean the fans away from the other components inside the laptop.

Also once it has been removed, check the condition of the thermal paste on both the CPU and the GPU to make sure that it hasn't dried out and needs to be refreshed.

Here's the ifixit How to Apply Thermal Paste guide that may help with this.
