Repairing/Recovering Data from Water Damaged M2 MacBook Air?

Hello. Last night I had a pretty massive screw-up and spilled water all over my M2 MacBook Air while I slept. When I woke up I noticed the machine was still on, but covered in water, and the keyboard and trackpad were not working. I hastily turned it off, dried it, and turned it back on again, at which point I was able to get to the lock screen but had no keyboard input. I turned it off again, left it to dry, and went back to sleep. When I woke up again, I turned it on and, though I could hear the startup sound and the keyboard backlight flashed on for a moment, the screen wouldn't turn on. I did something that was probably stupid in retrospect, and plugged it in. This caused the screen to flash on for a moment, showing the lock screen, but I accidentally disconnected the charger and, when I plugged it back in, the screen did not turn on again. I turned the computer off, and repeated much this same process a few hours later. This time, plugging it in gave me no response--not even the charging sound or light on the charger like it had previously. I waited for a couple more several-hour intervals and tried turning it on again a few more times, mainly out of restlessness and stress, and, though once or twice I got a flash of the keyboard or the screen, all it could generally manage was the startup sound.

I'm not sure how to approach this situation. I'm modestly technical, but I don't have a soldering skillset. Are there technicians that could repair it, or at least recover the data? There are several files on there that are quite precious to me, not to mention the computer itself. Thank you.

I'm an east coaster but I have a friend that needed a new port assembly as his died and found Sac Tech Exchange helpful. See if he can help you. Liquid damaged systems are tricky! As depending on what was spilled corrosion and shorted out parts can make repairs harder and of course the time between getting wet and fully disassembly of the system to properly clean the wet out makes a big difference on salvaging things.

For now make sure the computer is fully off a place the computer in a plastic bag in your refrigerator keeping it cool (not frozen) until you can get to the shop. I wish you luck, please let us know the outcome.

Thanks for this response! I'll put it in the fridge. However, I think part of the message may not have gone through--what was the shop again?
