iPhone 13 motherboard - cons and pros

I'm planning to replace an iphone 13 motherboard. Does someone know the pros and cons of it? such as features working or not etc. The motherboard will come with the face id.

If the motherboard comes with the face ID sensor, then any other software issues will all be determined by if you're using OEM Apple parts. Other software that may be affected include battery health monitor (battery), auto-brightness and truetone (screen), vibration (taptic engine), camera use (rear cameras).

If all of those parts are original Apple, and none of those parts are with serial numbers reported to Apple as lost or stolen, then you can use the official Apple Repair Assistant to pair any of those to the logic board and make it work properly again.

This is all assuming of course that the motherboard is also not reported lost/stolen, and everything is fully functional and the repair is successful with no complications.

Actually, if the phone is completely stock, then the only problem would be the Face ID. It won't work if it's secondhand, even if it is completely genuine. If your replacement comes with Face ID then there should be no problems. You'll have to recalibrate everything, and the battery would show as "used" in "Parts And Service History", but other than that you shouldn't have any issues with the replacement. Remember to buy the exact same model, though. There are models that comes with eSIM and ones with a physical SIM cartridge and they are completely different.

would the uk version of board work with canadian phone? im currently based in eu and getting it from uk would be the cheapest way

I'm not exactly sure about that...I've swapped a Chinese iPhone 14 motherboard with an US version and it works just fine, but I'm not sure bout other versions.

Here's a site that might be helpful:

Just make sure you buy the right model, if you have a model with physical SIM then don't buy an eSIM one. They're totally incompatible.Other than that there shouldn't be a problem. Watch out for carrier locks as well.

how could i recalibrate the parts in it? would i need to buy any tools, is it worth doing it by myself or should i get the logic board and get a shop to do it for me. also did you have any issues when it came to replacing chinese phone with us such as features not working etc

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Well, Apple have this software that do the recalibration for you. They actually have a guide on their official website. No other tools required.

Follow this and you should be fine. If you don't have a lot of experience in repairing phones and is afraid of damaging anything, then probably going to a repair shop would be better for you. However, If you're comfortable with phone repair, then it should be like any other repair, just a bit more complicated and takes more time.

I can't find any guides for the motherboard replacement, but here's Apple's iPhone 13 repair manual:

My 14 worked just fine when swapping the US board into the Chinese one, btw. Works perfectly. The iPhone 13 should be fine, but you'll want to get a motherboard from somewhere that allows refund just in case it doesn't .
