The PlayStation 3 Slim is the second version of the PS3 video game console with the original model number CECH-2000. Produced by Sony Computer Entertainment it fixed many issues of the original (fat) Playstation 3. It was released on September 1, 2009.

PlayStation 3 slim power on but no video output

I bought my PlayStation 3 about a month ago. I took it apart to clean it because it was clearly dusty, it also was getting hot under simple tasks like home menu and louder than usual. As I took it apart I didn't see any issues that would cause a concern, I repasted it and cleaned the dust out with a esd safe brush. And put it back together and didn't get power I eventually eventually figured out that it was the power button's ribbon cable so I got me a new one. Now it turns on but I do not get a display I did figure out that when taking out the HDD it would display so I replaced the old HDD with a new one and reinstalled the main firmware. It worked for a until I put it into rest mode and left my home and came back a few hours later and it wouldn't output a display on AV cable nor HDMI. I looked at the HDMI port and it looks fine no issues that I can see besides having to force shut it down without getting a beep confirming it turned off only a red light. So as my last effort of trying to figure it out I decided to see if anyone knows a fix it

If it helps the model number is CECH-2101A

Do you still have the original HDD? Have you tried replacing it back into the unit? It's possible reinstalling the firmware was faulty and didn't contain the correct codes for recovery from sleep mode.

I have looked all over for the original HDD and I couldn't find it. So I'm not sure what to do currently. I did take out the HDD again to see if that would at least show some display and I still do not have a display I tried using it with AV cables again and didnt get a display

Weird issue this is... It looks like a motherboard issue atm. Do you have the same result as with HDMI and AV?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Yes AV and HDMI Im thinking a chip on the motherboard involving video but not entirely sure. If it is I can't do anything because I'm not good at soldering chips or HDMI ports

Have you tried to restart in safe menu mode?

With the unit fully powered off, press and hold down the power button. There will be two sets of beeps; the first one will just be a single beep, but keep the power button down. After about six seconds or so, the second set of beeps will sound, and that should be a double beep if all is working as planned.

Hopefully, this works and displays a recovery menu to update firmware or recover data. Make your choice, but be aware that it will warn you that data already on the hard drive will be lost.
