The smaller, economical version of Samsung's tenth flagship Galaxy phone, released in February 2019. Shipped with Android 9.0 (Pie).

Changing the battery broke the gps

Hello,

In a word, went to a repair shop to have my s10e battery replaced with a new one, got the phone back with non working gps.

My brother did the same with his s10e, in Paris. Phone returned with non working gps.

I guess the dismantling broke the gps antenna. What would you recommend?

Thanks!

Hi @guy_c,

Personally I would take it back to the repairer and show them the problem. Professional repairers should test their work and also offer some sort of guarantee on their workmanship.

Not sure as I don't have the phone, but looking at the GPS troubleshooting flowchart on p.90 of 112 in the service manual it seems like the GPS antenna may be in the back cover.

The 2nd step in the flowchart is to check the ANT3 and ANT4 connections and if they're both OK is to replace the back cover.

Go to p.63 to find the location of the antenna connections on the rear of the board (top right)

It may be that the cover is not securely touching them both.

if it appears to be OK you may have to follow the rest of the flowchart to find out what's wrong.

@jayeff - Thank you very much. I did not know that the service manual was available online. Actually, my phone is SMG970F and i could find it's service manual. The repair flowchart is not quite the same as the one you referenced but 1st steps are alike

- remove back -> resolder / replace ANT2011 and ANT2012 (ANT03 ANT04 in 'U' manual, they have same place as in the "F" manual) -> replace back

I don't think that the back itself has a role here as you can buy back covers of different colors and there are no components nor conductive traces in it, just colored glace. As for the ANTs, I'll have first to dismantle the back. I'll see how to do that. Thanks again
