Regarding ipf8400s Cannon Plotter (E144-4047)

Hi, I am writing in hope that someone would know the answer or suggest some experiment that might solve my problem.

The place I work we have Canon Plotter model ipf8400s, few days ago it showed error E144-4047 and stopped working, we called service he tried to reset (initialize) the counters for parts/sensors, but it wasn't successful.

So, if anyone has some idea or suggestion please write, I wonder if we flash the firmware on the plotter would it clear the counters or any other suggestion ?

Hi @trajcestoj32390

Did the service tech get you to enter the service mode, and get a print of the usage report and then try to reset any counters for components that showed that they have reached 100% usage?

No he just entered service mode and did Initialize > Parts Counter

do you know how to print the report ?

@trajcestoj32390

Not sure

I was hoping that there's be an option to do this in service mode

@jayeff I don't think so, if there was maybe he(the service guy) would have done that

Based on your experience, does flashing the firmware on a printer (or plotter, in this instance) erase the data? I'm asking because when I flashed my smartwatch, it wiped all the data.

I'm considering this as a last resort if they start contemplating getting rid of the plotter if the service guy says he cant fix it.

Thank you for answering

@trajcestoj32390

It could be just that the ink cartridge may need replacing or it is faulty. Resetting the firmware won't overcome it if that's the problem.

Changing the ink cartage didn't help, I initialized everything(including the network settings that turned a little bit of problem lol) on the plotter and now is working, so the problem is fixed for now
