Repair, disassembly, and troubleshooting information for the Steam Deck with LCD display, a handheld gaming console made by Valve, released on February 25, 2022. Identified by model number 1010.

The Dpad or joystick making noise when not using it.

My SteamDeck is making a sound like I'm using the joystick or Dpad when I'm not even using it. It doesn't go certain ways at times then makes the sound like it's getting stuck when its not.

Video on YouTube of the sound. Also it's out of warranty. I got a new OLED model but would love to fix this LED model for my son.

It could be the buttons have slipped out of alignment underneath. The back shell should be removed and the inner components taken out until the buttons are accessible

@ejgerbrandt just wanna make sure, did you listen to the video?

I did yes. It sounds like the button could be stuck permanently engaged against the pad that reads it underneath. If the button won't go back in at certain times, there could be a piece out of place and in the way, or maybe excess glue on the pad. Your best bet is to get a t6 screwdriver and take a look at it. There's a whole lot of videos online that show proper disassembly
