Why is my cell phone microphone not working?

@baranjay first you want to check your software and a few other common things. Start with restarting your phone and check the app permissions. Make sure that you have all software updated and that the microphone area is clean.

Start your phone in safe mode and see if that allows your mic to work. If so, you know that the issue is related to some 3rd p[art App that blocks the mic. Uninstall those Apps.

If none of that works, you may need to consider replacing it. The mic is soldered to the sub-board (daughterboard/charging board) Since iFixit does not yet have a specific guide for this, use the one from here It is written in Spanish so use a browser that does the translating for you. Replacement boards are readily available at many online stores.

While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit.
