Samsung UM50MU630D TV Won't Seem to Hold Settings

My Samsung UM50MU630D display has begun to appear dim after a short time of being turned on. Changing the brightness and contrast in the settings seems to fix the problem for a short while. I also disable the "Eco" brightness and motion detection brightness settings.

When the display becomes dim again, the settings I changed are back to the values before I changed them.

I tried a "hard" power off (pulling the cord) and a factory reset but these did not fix the issue.

It seems almost like there is a battery for holding the settings that is now dead but I assume now days that they would be held in an EPROM.

I'm not to sure how to proceed.

Is it only those two settings that revert back or do you have to setup (retune etc) the TV again as well?

Not sure if this will work but if it is only the settings associated with the screen's brightness/contrast etc try the following to check if the following procedure works to find out if the backlighting i.e. LED backlights or LED power supply on the power board, is OK.

Turn off the TV if on and then disconnect the power to the TV. Remove the back cover and disconnect the mainboard-power board cable at the power board end only.

Reconnect the power to the TV and check if the screen backlights turn on full brightness and stay on with the same intensity or if it varies at all.

There will be no images on the screen as the mainboard has been disconnected.

Be safety aware as there's exposed lethal AC power on the power board, when power is connected to the TV. Be sure to disconnect the power to the TV before touching the TV again when you're finished checking
