Repair guides and disassembly information for the 16-inch MacBook Pro released in October of 2021, featuring Apple-designed M1 Pro and M1 Max SoCs. Model A2485.

Body of MacBook is Creaky

When I use my MacBook and have a bit of movement, I hear a bit of creaking particularly on the right side of the Mac but it can be on both sides. This also occurs when I open or close the Mac. I took it to Apple about 3 days ago and they said something inside was a bit loose and tightened it. A day later, voila, the problem was back. Though I'm not sure if it is an internal problem or not, could this just be the pentelope screws on the bottom loosening?

This can be a number of things as I have experienced in the past.

1 - The black plastic clutch cover at the back side is likely rubbing against the bottom case which likely has been bent / dented or distorted in some way (The edge of the case should be nice and straight when viewed from the side). You may notice that it is touching or scraping on the bottom case when opening and closing the display. (Highly likely).

2 - The screws have been over tightened again possible bending the case towards the clutch cover (Unlikely).

3 - The hinges have worked lose (Is there any play when you open the display and move it back and forth slightly?).

Should be one of the above ;)
