That's a tough one; there are several possible issues that could cause the problem you're seeing. The good news here is that if it's a problem with the charging port then that can be replaced fairly easily, as the USB port is mounted on a separate daughter card that you can buy online. I found a guide showing how to do that replacement.

That's where I'd start, personally. Depending on the condition of the battery, it may well be worth your time to replace it as well, especially if the daughter card doesn't fix it. Following that, there's a flex cable connecting the auxiliary card to the motherboard that could theoretically be the issue that would be the final thing to try. If nothing above works, then that just leaves the power management chip on the motherboard. Fixing that would require board-level repairs that would take quite a bit of expertise and specialized equipment; at that point you may well be better off looking for a new motherboard instead.
