MEDC465HW0 Stops Running even after New Cord

The dryer stopped running shortly after starting a load. No breakers were tripped. We switched the cord because we thought this might have something to do with it. Was able to dry one full load with the new cord on Medium heat. When we went to start another load, it stopped working again. The model is MEDC465HW0 and was purchased only 4 years ago. Any thoughts on why a new cord would let it work, and then it blows after one load?

Hi @jmgabutts

What blew after one load, the power cord or something in the dryer?

Here's the wiring diagram for the dryer that may help.

User a DMM (digital multimeter) and check if the supply voltage connected to the dryer is OK.

If it is, then you may have to start doing point to point testing to find out why it won't start e.g. is the door switch working OK electrically etc.

If you find the problem and it is a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted part in the list and then note the part number that is shown with the part. Search online for the part number only to fins suppliers that suit you best.

Sometimes if you're lucky if you search on YouTube for (insert wanted part number) replacement, you may find videos that show how to remove/replace the part.

Thank you for the response. I guess when I say "blew," I should have said that it just stopped working again, and I don't know why. I'm not sure if it's overheating for some reason, but if that is the case, why does replacing the power cord fix it temporarily?

@jmgabutts

Could be a loose connection or switch or contact perhaps.

As I suggested above you may need to start tracing the dryer operate circuit with a DMM to find out why the motor won't start when the door is closed and the timer is started.
