Keyboard needs to be replaced

Hello,

I have a HP ZBook Power G8 laptop (33D89AV), with keyboard problems, out of warranty. I plan to replace the keyboard myslef, found a lot of sites where you can order replacement parts.

However, I have a few questions, which I need to clarify before pulling the trigger.

  1. How can I figure out the exact part number of my keyboard? I found quite a few replacement parts, which look identical to me, but their part numbers are different: M26110-001, M26111-001, M26112-001, M26113-001. Maybe there are even more... What is the difference between them? Which one I need?
  2. I assume there is no real (hardware) difference between keyboard layouts. I assume the difference is only the printed letters on the keys, and I can replace my current CH-DE keyboard with an EN-US for example, right?

@mukijames "I can replace my current CH-DE keyboard with an EN-US" yes, you can. Only issue is that the mapping is different. For example, the US keyboard is a QWERTY keyboard (1st row of letters ) whereas the German one should be a QWERTZ as well as having the umlauts and the sharp s which you will not find on the US keyboard.

As for which keyboard to get, use the HP ZBook Power G8 Maintenance And Service Guide to identify the proper part number for the one you need as well as to work on replacing it.

@oldturkey03 Thank you for your helepful answer. I took a look into the service guide to figure out the correct part number. My laptop doesn't have backlit, so M26110 and M26112 are out. But what could be the difference between M26111 and M26113? Both has the same description: "Keyboard with clickpad for use only on computer models equipped with a graphics susbystem with discrete memory (includes clickpad cable and keyboard cable)". Do you have any idea?

@mukijames looks like the M26111 is the UK keyboard and M26113 the US keyboard. I know the UK KB has one more key and there are other differences. Check on here for those.

@oldturkey03 Hm, this is getting confusing :) According to the service guide both of them has UK and US versions:

@mukijames I think the confusion arises from the difference in what we are looking for. HP part numbers include the "top cover with palm rest whereas we are only focusing on the keyboard. That is why we can't find the real match. What language keyboard are you looking for and it may be worthwhile to contact a seller of just the keyboard to ensure compatibility.
