Why is the picture freezing then catching up?

Only on Freeview and catch-up services, but not on HDMI inputs, e.g a Fire stick or dvd source, the picture often stalls and then catches up whilst the sound carries on as normal. On BBC iPlayer and a UHD programme this is more noticeable than a SD programme on Freeview.

@fredstanle33733 if this is only happening to one input source i.e. Freeview, then the issue is not with the TV but the connection to it. If you are using an App for that, it is possibly the App itself. Try to update that and see if it makes a difference.

Freeview is via the aerial socket whilst catch up tv is via a reliable wired ethernet source. The only source that doesn't have an issue is HDMI where audio and video signals are already synchronised.

@fredstanle33733 anything connecting via ethernet shows this lag?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Yes, all ethernet and all over the air broadcast tv services. Further information is that YouTube repeatedly runs at slow speed then restarts the app to 'free up memory' . In addition over the air radio is fine, but obviously just an audio source.
