Battery replacement not working

Hi, so my battery was having issues, wasn't charging past 0 percent. Laptop worked though when plugged in. I bought a new battery, don't think it's genuine, however it certainly seems to have the same specs. I tried replacing. Now, laptop booted up with the little charge that the battery came with, but very slowly, with the screen going black a couple of times. Also, it won't charge, the battery indicator won't go on(as opposed to with my old battery, where although it wouldn't charge past 0, the indicator did go on). I tried resetting the battery to no avail. Please help, thanks!

@yozid it does sound like your computer has an issue with the charging circuit but let's start off with a few basic things.

Start off with the easy things. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from your computer. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. Now hold the power button depressed for about 30sec-1min. Reapply the AC power adapter and see if your computer does show any sign of life.

First you want to check your power supply. Make sure it has the proper voltages. Check to make sure that connectors are not bend etc. Check the DC-in jack of your laptop. Make sure there is no corrosion, debris etc. that prevents it from working. Clean it of any debris etc, use a few puffs of air to clean it out. If none of this works, get an ammeter and see if your laptop draws any amperage from the charger. After that, you need to check and see if your motherboard even gets power. For that of course, you need to open it up. Post Some good pictures of what you see. That way we can see what you see. Adding images to an existing question

Anything part that would be related to possible issues on your motherboard. for that we would need to know the motherboard number. It is printed on the board itself but usually it is on the topside which means you would need to remove it :-(

They are all a battery model number L19D4PF4.

Check that either the Lenovo part number OR the battery model number is the same on the replacement battery.

Just verifying that the laptop doesn't indicate that the replacement battery is being charged, if you just connect the charger to the laptop but you don't turn the laptop on?

@oldturkey03 No, the new battery does not work even when plugged in. I installed the new battery, and the laptop powered on with the small charge that the new battery came with. When it powered on, it did so very slowly, with the screen going black a couple of times before bringing me to the home screen. Once completely on, it acted very slowly. Most importantly it didn't charge at all, so after 20 minutes, when the charge that it came with ran out, the laptop died with no sign of life, not even the battery indicator light was on. I swapped back to my old battery, and my laptop booted up and acts normally, but only when plugged in.
