The 2008-2012 Ford Escape features a revised front and rear fascia and restyled LED tail lamps.

trying to solve a code 302 in a 2011 escape

I’m trying to resolve an intermittent misfire in cylinder 2.

I first changed the spark plugs and found oil around the plug. I changed the valve cover gasket. No success.

Next, I checked the coil. It was OK. No success.

Next, I cleaned the mass air flow sensor and changed the air filter. I also cleaned the throttle body and put a bottle of Red Line engine cleaner on the tank. No success.

Next, I did a compression check. 3 cylinders were the range of 150 the number 2 came up around 120.

Next, I cleaned the fuel injector. No success.

Any suggestions? ThanksHow do I submit a question?

@davesharkey I assume the error code was actually a P0302. Besides all of the things you've already done, check for sticking valves or failed piston rings. Those things would also explain the lower compression. Do a leak-down test next and see what that tells you.
