It may be that the battery has failed and the charger cannot do both, i.e. charge the battery and power the laptop at the same time.

With the charger connected, turn on the laptop and when it has finished booting into Windows etc, create a battery report to check the condition of the battery to see if it OK or not.

When you have the report, compare the Design Capacity value versus the Full Charge Capacity value of the battery as shown in the report. For a good battery the values should be nearly the same.

You can work out the condition of the battery as a percentage by using the formula Full Charge Capacity value x 100 ÷ Design Capacity value. If the percentage is <35% consider replacing the battery.

The battery model number is L11119-855. This is the HP part number for the battery and is usually printed somewhere on the battery if you wish to confirm that you're ordering the correct one. Search online to find suppliers that suit you best. (suppliers examples only).
