Whirlpool washing machine sounds like a jet engine

Whirlpool WTW4900BW0 top load washing machine has been extremely loud on the spin cycle. I don’t know what’s wrong with it since there are no vibrations.

When it spins it sounds like a jet is taking off in my laundry room.

According to its serial number based on what I found online, my washing machine was made on the 16th week of 2014.

Hi @homerepair61

Here's the Chosen Solution to a similar problem with a Kenmore washer that may be relevant to your model also.

The clutch assembly part number for your model is the same as in the linked answer above.

I recently had this problem as well as it would not spin very fast. I replaced the spin/agitate switch under the bottom of the tub and now no noise, and it spins like a top.

The part was under $25. Be sure to align the pin on the switch inside the hole of the transmission shifter or nothing will spin.

Best of luck.
