Disc Not Spinning Despite Fix

Hello, so just to sum this up:

I bought a PS2 from a charity shop that said it had a disc issue so I thought id just replace the disc drive, not a hard fix and a great bargain for £20

Ive changed the laser originally, didn't fix it, changed the whole assembly (the whole unit with the wires, thread bit to move the laser etc) still didn't fix it

So I bought a new unit altogether this time and still nothing, I'm assuming its something board related, so my question is

Firstly, what else can I do to fix this, and secondly if it is a board issue, where do I go about buying one? I've spent absolutely days researching now and I cant seem to sort it, any help is greatly appreciated as this PS2 is intended on being used for quite a while now

@jakeax3d we would really need to know what your board number is. Even better post some good pictures of the main board and let's see what it looks like. For now, I would check the connector for the optical drive (step 22 of this PlayStation 2 Teardown ) See if you even have power going to your drive. Pin 2 is ground and pin 17 is VCC. After that I would check to see if the spindle motor gets power. Let us know what you find out. Adding images to an existing question

Hey, thanks for that, I'll try to get the photos for you tomorrow morning, but the one in the teardown you sent unfortunately isn't the correct one, I forgot there were 2 models, I have the one where the lid opens upwards rather than the tray coming out

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

A disc drive is specific for other models, check yours and check your disc drive if it's compatible. And if don't order compatible one. If you have any questions feel free to ask
