Repair and disassembly information for the ROG Ally, a handheld gaming console made by ASUS. Released in 2023 and identified by model number RC71L.

Can’t charge at all

As title says, plugged the USB and it didn’t charge at all… no light, nothing. I know battery and everything still works since it still manage to boot up and everything when there’s still charge left. Maybe a dead USBC? Any way these can be replaced? Thanks

@dafangefull before thinking about replacing the USB-c connector, go through the answers/comments of this question USB-C port not charging with power delivery See if that might work for you as well.

If it does not, then you will most likely have to replace the port. Of course, for that you will need to disassemble it and then finding a replacement port. Use these guides Asus ROG Ally to work on it. This task will also require some decent soldering tools and skills. Let us know what you find out.

Let's see if our game console guru @dan0 has some other possible solutions for your Ally's issues

I agree with Oldturkey03, I would first replace the port (it's most likely the port that did fail). If this failed, you might want to check the motherboard. If you can share pictures with us (regarding the USB-C port), that would be awesome.
