PS5 Disc Read Failure - already replaced laser deck

I have a PS5 CFI115A failing to read discs, and it's posing the same symptoms as others on YouTube when I search "PS5 disc read failure."

I've replaced the laser deck so far and the PS5 still won't read the game disc. I've updated the software and rebuilt the database as well.

I saw a video from FastTech saying that if the replacement doesn't work, I should buy a new disc drive and hook it up to the existing PS5 board. This doesn't sound right to me... Replacing the laser deck seems like I'm almost installing an entirely new disc drive, as all its main components are replaced, except the mechanism that feeds the disc into the drive.

Kind of stuck here, not sure where to go next. If anyone has any experience on this topic, help would be much appreciated!!

You are right. Replacing the drive will probably not fix this. Replacing the laser deck usually always work. When it's trying to read the disc, do you hear the laser actually trying to read it? If yes, then it's pretty sure that the laser is having issues.

Maybe you bought a faulty laser deck. I would return it and get yourself a refund and buy it somewhere else (or return it and get yourself a new one).

It's most likely the laser deck again.

You were right!!

It was a bad laser. Got a new one in today, popped that bad boy in and it worked!

Thank you for the advice :) Gave me hope that I didn’t need to learn to solder an IC chip or something and made me order another laser deck.
