Can the back glass be laser etched to have IMEI?

Silly question but I got a replacement back glass for my Galaxy s23 ultra and I want to have it look as OEM as possible. I'm worried the back glass has a coating on it or something that would cause an issue with laser printing or laser etching would anyone happen to know if this is something that I can possibly do?

Well...the matte glass might diffuse the laser beam or reflect it at weird angles, so it is best not to do it. Besides, the matte glass might crack from the temperature difference. However, I'm not entirely sure about this. I've never tried laser etching on glass before, but I think that the result isn't going to be ideal. If those panels aren't expensive, then you could buy two of them and experiment on one so even if the result is unsatisfactory you can still use the other one. Also, there might be some manufactures that are willing to customize the IMEI for you, so you can probably ask them whether it's an option or not.

So with my mind and AI combined we came up with the sick idea of actually laser etching from the inside instead of doing it in the outside which I originally planned on doing. Doing it on the inside would keep from lasering off any top coating and may yield the best results. I bought one from here and from Amazon and I might even use the broken one to practice. I know it's such a silly thing but I want my phone to look factory not cheaply slapped together.

That might actually work! Just remember to protect the camera and the lens from dust as any bit of them would mess up your pictures. Also, you might want to take measurements of the IMEI on the original rear glass so it's in the same position when you etch it on the new glass panel. Just as a reminder, etching from the back would require letters and numbers flipped inversely like what you'd see in a mirror, so it is normal when you view it from the back.
