Will not feed disc except for upon boot

I have been hunting down this issue and it's still giving me problems, I have tried different disc drives completely (I swapped over the original PCB) and the issue still persists, when I boot the console up if I have a disc halfway inserted it will feed it in and eject no problem, once the console is actively running it refuses to eat a disc, it's done this on several different disc drives so I know it's not just dirty rollers. It feels like whatever feed sensor exists is just not working I'm starting to believe this is an issue with my PCB potentially. Has anyone ever had this problem?

There is a photodetector diode on the PCB and an infrared LED on a small PCB across the other side of the drive for disc detection. Additionally there are travel limit switches detecting the travel range on either end of the eject mechanism.

Any one of them going bad may cause the drive eject mechanism to act funny.
