If the front camera stopped working after a battery replacement, but Face ID still works, it’s likely a connection issue rather than a hardware failure. Here are a few things to check:
1. Reseat the Front Camera Flex Cable
Since the front camera and Face ID share the same flex cable, it’s possible that the camera’s connection is loose. Try carefully reconnecting the front camera flex cable to the logic board.
2. Check for Damage to the Flex Cable
If the cable was stretched, bent, or torn during the battery replacement, it could be damaged. Inspect it closely under good lighting.
3. Clean the Connectors
Use 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush to clean the connectors on both the logic board and the camera flex. Make sure it’s fully dry before reconnecting.
4. Check for Software Issues
• Force restart: Press and quickly release Volume Up, then Volume Down, then hold the Power button until you see the Apple logo.
• Check for updates: If the phone is running an outdated iOS version, updating might help.
• Reset all settings: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings (this won’t erase data).
5. Try Another Front Camera Module
If nothing works, the front camera module may have been damaged. Try replacing it with a known working one (but be careful—Face ID won’t work if you replace the entire Face ID sensor assembly).
Did the issue start immediately after the battery swap, or did it happen later?
