Frigidaire FFID2426TS5A Dishwasher won't force drain or start cycle

Hi All,

I have a Frigidaire dishwasher, model FFID2426TS5A that won't force drain or start a cycle. When i apply power, the lights above the buttons all start up green, then the start/cancel light flashes. I try to force a drain (there's a small amount of water in the bottom of the dishwasher) and all lights go out on the button pad, and the dishwasher acts unresponsive until the next time I power cycle. It seems like a control board issue, but given the price of a control board, I would like to be 100% certain before I invest. Is there any way to know for sure?

Thanks, Ivan

Hi @ivanblackford

Check that the door latch strike is operating the door switch.

If the switch is not operating the machine won't start.

Here's the wiring diagram that may help.

Disconnect the power to the dishwasher and then access the control board and use an Ohmmeter to check for continuity between the P1 and P3/6 terminals on the control board when the door is shut.

Hi @ivanblackford

Here's the service data sheet for the dishwasher.

Check if you can run the water/service test as described and see if that isolates the problem any further.

Another option perhaps is to check if there any fractures in the wires of the harness at the bottom of the door where they go from the control panel into the rest of the machine.

Hi Jayef,

Thanks for following up with me. I'm surprised that you narrowed in on the switch right away, as this was the original reason I was called to look at this dishwasher. I found that the latch had been engaged when the door was open, probably from somebody sticking a foreign object in. I reset the latch and confirmed that the switch operated correctly, with both sides of the double pole switch behaving as expected.

After resetting the latch, I got the machine to start once....but that was it...I heard water come in, things were happening. However now I can't replicate that...I confirmed the latch switch is still working, and I confirmed that the individual keypad buttons are working, but I can't seem to start a cycle or start the dishwasher draining.

My suspicion at this point is the control board, only because i have essentially ruled out anything else in the system. I'm really reluctant to order a new control board though, given the cost of a control board and the value of this dishwasher...haha.
