Jura Z6 Rinse Cycle Issue After Deep Clean – Need Advice

Hey everyone,

I recently did a deep clean on my Jura Z6, including taking apart and reassembling the brew unit and grinder. Everything seems to be working well—coffee brews perfectly, hot water dispenses fine, and the milk system rinses without issue.

However, I’ve noticed that during the startup rinse or when selecting Machine Maintenance → Rinse Machine, no water comes out of the coffee spouts. Instead, it seems to bypass them and go straight into the drip tray. Oddly enough, the cleaning cycle does work through the spouts/nozzles.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas on what might be causing the rinse water to divert internally instead of flowing through the spouts? Appreciate any insights!

@anthonysabatino Does ist make coffee?

I suspect an issue with the drainage valve. Have you disassembled it and replaced the seals? Perhaps the lips of the seals point to the wrong direction: Always towards the pressure.

Was able to solve this for anyone who comes across similar issues in the future. I rebuilt the drain valve but unfortunately same result - great coffee, no rinse.

After that, I rebuilt the brew system completely. I suspect there was something wrong with the positioning of the lower piston where under less pressure (a pull without grounds) the drain valve wasn’t connecting fully to it, but I can’t be completely certain. That or it was the initial starting position of the brew group gear - perhaps I made a micro adjustment and that fixed it. Nevertheless the machine not only makes coffee, it rinses properly too.

This video was helpful, while it is similar to other brew group guides, this was the one I followed that ended in success. The only thing missing is that it ends with the plastic gear all the way at the top and doesn’t show the correct installation position with the lower piston down / ready to accept grounds. Fortunately other videos out there.
