Whirlpool washer machine bangs loudly while washing

I have a front loading whirlpool washer machine that I bought 5 or so years ago. While it’s running (usually in normal cycle) some time mid-cycle it starts banging super loudly. It sounds like it’s banging on the side of the machine.

Why is that and what’s making it do that?

Module: WFW95HEDWO

Thank you for the help

Hi Nate,

Can you open the door of the washer and get the model number for us? Whirlpool makes a LOT of washing machines and we can't give you an authoritative answer without knowing which one you have.

Hi @natetheegreat

90% of the time a banging noise in a washer during washing and spinning is due to a faulty shock absorber(s) in the machine.

There are two in the machine, one at the front and one at the back of the tub.

Here's a video that shows how to replace them.

Search online for W11415987 to find suppliers of the part that suits you best.
