Sound stops after a few minutes

Radio plays sound for a few minutes a then the sound goes out. If I turn vehicle off then turn it back on it works just for a few minutes. It’s a brand new new radio definitely no loose connections or over heating an no bad fuses

Hi @walterrayborn

Does it also do this when using the radio on Accessories power only i.e. engine not turned on?

Have you checked the speakers are the correct value for the radio i.e. >50W power rating, 4-8 Ohms impedance?

When I have the vehicle running it plays sound for about 2 minutes or so then stops playing sound then I’ll have to turn vehicle back on

I mean I have the vehicle running it stops playing sound after about 2 minutes then I’ll have to shut the vehicle off then turn it back on for it to play but keeps doing that every time

@walterrayborn

Yes but does it play continually without the engine running at all or does it also turn off after 2 minutes or so?

If it plays continually I was wondering if there's a difference between battery power only and power from the alternator when the engine is running.

Does the radio turn off completely or only the sound stops?

Just trying to eliminate possibilities

There might be a feature of the Z9200 where the radio has a "courtesy" timer to continue playing for a few minutes after the car is turned off. Many modern factory radios have this same feature. If the head unit's power wiring isn't getting the expected switched and constant 12V, it might be going into this courtesy mode. Check the switched power input (red wire in Pioneer harness) to make sure it has full 12V when the car is on and that 12V continues whenever the car is on (i.e. it doesn't switch off when the car is still on). If you replaced a factory radio and tapped into the factory radio wiring, the Pioneer red and yellow power wires might not be receiving the switched and constant 12V the deck needs. The factory wiring might be providing timed or sequenced power which is confusing the head unit.
