panasonic lumix dmc-lx15 Camera fell on front, replacing zoom lens

Hi, My device was on a tripod and fell on the front while it was open. Now I get a "system error (zoom)". I'm afraid something is damaged. Last year I had it repaired officially, but it was expensive, now I want to try it myself. Where should I start? Buy a new DC Vario--summilux right away, and are they universal? Thanks a lot!
